BOY SCOUTS AT GRACE LUTHERAN
Grace Lutheran Church serves as the chartered organization for BSA Boy Scout Troop 57 and BSA Cub Scout Pack 57, both affiliated with the Old North State Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
The Boy Scouts of America aims to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives by embodying the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Through a wide range of outdoor activities, educational programs, and career-oriented initiatives in collaboration with community organizations, youth are trained in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance. For younger members, the scout method is employed to instill core Scouting values like trustworthiness, good citizenship, and outdoor skills through activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking.
Cub Scouts, designed for ages 5-10 (K – 5th grade), encourages parental involvement while imparting Scouting values and preparing Cub Scouts for transition into Boy Scouts. The Cub Scouts meet weekly during the school year and offer optional activities during the summer break. Troop 57 is a boy’s troop for ages 11-18 (grades 6 – 12). Under the guidance of a team of dedicated leaders, the Troop is a youth-led program fostering self-reliance through skills such as planning, teamwork, and leadership development. Meetings are held year-round with planned monthly outings. Several of our scouts attend regional summer and winter camping events. Weekly meetings for both groups are held on Monday evenings beginning at 7:00.
